Anyone using Thiamax?
-
Can anyone using Thiamax thiamine share their experience, dosage and what they are taking alongside it?
I am up to 300mg and wondering if this is the max I should take, or if some people need more than this? I'm also wondering how much riboflavin and other vitamins to take in proportion to how much thiamine. I'm taking 25 drops of Idealabs Energin, 1000 mcg B12 as adenosylcobalamin, and 400 mg Mag Gylcinate.
I'm trying to remedy my chronic constipation and numbness/ tingling in arms and legs.

I tried to take Thiamax but got a bad headache from one pill so I decided to take thiamine hcl instead. My glutathione level was very low at the time due to long term oxidative stress. This is a known issue with taking TTFD; see here: https://hormonesmatter.com/paradoxical-reactions-with-ttfd-the-glutathione-connection/ My husband takes 200mgs of Thiamax daily and does fine on it.
I don't know how to extrapolate the amount of thiamine hcl that I take over to a corresponding amount of Thiamax, sorry. But I can tell you what I'm taking:
1 gram of thiamine hcl, in water only, 2 times a day. Thiamine hcl, taken orally requires high doses because of poor absorption. I follow Dr. Costantini's protocol for dose amount. It is based on body weight and the amount of oral thiamine hcl that is needed to equal a single 100mg injection of thiamine hcl.
100mgs of niacinamide, 4 times a day
100mgs of riboflavin, 4 times a day: The 400mgs of riboflavin has resolved my eye issues, including the cataracts. Your needs might vary.
3500mgs magnesium glycinate, divided into 2 doses daily; equals 400mgs pure magnesium. Magnesium is key to resolving constipation so you might give it a try.

That's a pretty low amount of magnesium glycinate; you might benefit from increasing the amount, especially if you are constipated. I take a lot more (see above). If I forget a dose, I get constipated. I take this one; there's good info about recommended dose amount at the link.

Both these things are connected to low magnesium, I think. I had both problems; both have resolved.
Dr. Chandler Marrs has some good videos about TTFD thiamine (=Thiamax). She goes into the dosage amounts that some of her patients take. Some are taking as much as a gram or more. I think that patient had MS? It seems to be a trial and error experimentation thing to get the right dose.
You might find the information at Dr. Costantini's Protocol page helpful; determining the right dose is discussed. Even though he used the hcl type rather than the TTFD, I think the discussion would shed some light on the topic.

@mostlylurking Thanks so much for the info. I should have said that I am taking 400mg of Magnesium from Mag Glycinate. I have taken a lot more in the past, but it's never helped the constipation. I'm going to try upping my riboflavin and maybe slowly add more TTFD. I did try thiamine HCL and got up to 2 grams without noticing too much.

@Sippy So, how many mgs of magnesium glycinate are you taking?
-
@Sippy Did you ever try more than 2 grams of thiamine hcl? I tried 2.5 grams one day and got some shooting electrical zapping pains in my thighs. I interpreted that response to mean I had taken too much so I backed it down to the 2 grams/day.
How long did you take the 2 grams of thiamine hcl?
