Becoming unpredictable
-
How can one train your brain to randomly use random parts of the brain.
Motive for me to want to train this is:
Almost every part of our life gets enhanced by becoming unpredictable and random but we as humans are incapable of such a thing. Examples where unpredictability is valued: humor. Dating. Creativity. art. Most Sports and esports -at the highest levels of skill, where everyone knows what the other might throw, weird works- . Social media content creation -best example of this is speed doing random shit and becoming balls down famous- and more -
The right hemisphere of the brain is more involved in synthesis, insight and associative and divergent thinking, all of which help with appearing more random. The right hemisphere is also more involved in (most) emotions and understanding context.
The right hemisphere is overall larger and it's brain areas are more interconnected compared to the left hemisphere. Both hemispheres are involved with the unconscious and the conscious, but the left hemisphere is more associated with usual consciousness. The hemispheres can inhibit each other.
Using the right hemisphere more might make accessing it easier over time and could possibly shift hemispheric dominance more towards the right, making it easier to use abilities related to it that weren't practiced.
Things that engage the right hemisphere to a considerable degree or shift hemisphere dominance more towards the right include:
- Music. Listening to music you haven't listened to before is probably even better, which relates to the last part of this list.
- Poetry
- Making art (e.g. drawing, painting)
- Being in a natural environment
- Using peripheral vision
- Practicing dream recall
- Novelty
For novelty, you could take a different route to work than usual, brush your teeth with your other hand, wear a different hat than usual, etc. and switch it up randomly, not following any predetermined rules.
When something becomes a habit, it takes less energy to start the action. Starting new actions takes more energy. So anything that increases energy will likely help, unless it also has some other undesirable effects.
Writing poetry and playing musical instruments (especially while reading music) engage both hemispheres to a significant degree, which can lead to greater communication between the hemispheres over time. Image Streaming (by Win Wenger) is also effective for this.
Speaking and writing are strongly related to the left hemisphere. Taking a break from them might help shift hemisphere dominance. Listening to speech and reading are also more associated with the left hemisphere, but to a lesser degree than generating language, so taking a break from using language altogether could be better. But if this leads to loneliness, it might not be worth it. Idk. You'll have to see for yourself. The right hemisphere is also involved in socialization.
According to the book Return to the Brain of Eden, eating more fruit could possibly help too. From what I've read, and partially from my experience, cacao (see ceremonial cacao) and kanna might also help. But that is just based on their subjective effects. I don't know of any research that shows that they shift hemisphere dominance towards the the right.
Having greater access to the right hemisphere will allow for more spontaneity and will make a person less predictable.

@Androsclerozat this is related to your post too (The key for verbal fluency). Literal language is more left hemisphere, but understanding body language, humor and the non-literal meaning of what a person is saying also needs the right hemisphere.
