i've read some of peat's writing on menopause but im having trouble convincing my mother to take some progest e. She is in her 60's and currently is having some liver issues. She was diagnosed with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), and is prescribed ursoldiol.

I understand how the liver is responsible for the metabolism of estrogen. With her high liver enzymes and high cholesterol I think its safe to say that her impaired liver function would benefit greatly from the anti estrogenic and protective qualities of progesterone.

She is worried that if she takes it she would start her period, and is worried about it "throwing her hormones out of whack"...

Any other post/menopausal women here who could share their experiences? Anything else more in depth you know relating to prog/liver that could explain her issue more and set her mind at ease about trying it?

She is a very facts oriented person, and is weary of ray peats perspective since she thinks it isnt an established medical narrative.

    any help is appreciated

    thanks.

@jeeba I gave my mom Ray’s book From PMS to Menopause and that seemed to sway her mind on estrogen. All of his work is very cited and scientific so I wouldn’t imagine that would be a problem.
