Could we have a subforum for asking questions about bioenergetics, especially related to Ray Peat's writings? Like a little bioenergetics study group.

I have a lot of questions, but it would be nice to study Ray Peat's work together with other people having similar questions. (And hopefully answers)

I notice that a lot of the threads are about what you should practically do to become healthier/stronger/sleep better/lose weight etc.

But I would like to start a subculture that is not only driven by practices but more about understanding the work of Ray Peat without diving directly into, "this means, you should eat this and that"

For example, questions that I would like to ask in that subforum:

      • Is the leak of electrons by Complex I and III, causing superoxide (ROS) a bad thing? Are is some electron leakage necessary?
      • Why did Ray Peat think anti-oxidants are bad? Is it only if they block cytochrome c oxidase? I was thinking that superoxide dismutase might not block it as is not a reductant such as glutathione. In fact, is superoxide really an oxidant, as it is already the reduced form of oxygen?

Not a bad proposal. I think instead of creating an entirely new subforum, we should rebrand the “Not Medical Advice” board for this purpose and redirect the more simple questions (i.e. questions like “how to lower seretonin?”) into a shoutbox.

@Kasper What do you think about asking those questions on the Bioenergetics Discussion subforum?

In an existing subforum or in a new one?

"Not Medical Advice" doesn't sound like the right place to me, I would rather have a subforum completely dedicated to this, to start some sub-culture where people are really going deep into Ray Peat's work, and studying his work including his references deeply.

Instead of a culture of: "I drink 2L orange juice a day, why do I still feel like crap" kind of culture. Which is quite a different culture. Then "I'm studying Ray Peat (or other bioenergetic writers) and stuck in understanding it".

Maybe exaggerating, a bit here, but in essence, it is about: "I'm sick, please help me." I just don't feel inspired by that at the moment. Not everyone comes here to fix their health. Some people already fixed their health using Ray Peat's writings, and are now more interested in understanding the theory behind that.

Maybe "Bioenergetics Discussion" -> "Ray Peat Study Group"

@Kasper Just in "Bioenergetics Discussion." You can post threads in that subforum directly. If there seem to be a bunch of other threads like this that can fit into that category I'm open to creating a specific subforum down the line. Right now it seems to be a bit too niche and duplicative of the Bioenergetics Discussion overall.

@Kasper Thanks! We can revisit this in a bit to see if it begins to make sense to have a study section.
