DIY spectral characterization of powder supplements

Has anybody here tried using a spectrometer to verify the quality of their powder supplements? For example, here is the data for 6 keto p4:

As you can see, it has a few characteristic peaks and valleys in the infrared band, which are the marks of the specific bonds in the molecule.
There are various cheap spectrometers (~$100) available which might be able to measure that, and the good ones start at only a few thousand.
This is the same underlying technique the labs use for purity checking, so it'd be great to be able to do the same instantly for whatever shady supplier you might buy from.
