My colitis is returning since taking progesterone
-
I'm trying to make this as concise as possible.
I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at 39 in the early 2000's. I kept it under control with diet that works for me and asacol suppositories. When I went through menopause I noticed that my colitis basically disappeared and after being completely done with menopause I had no more evidence of colitis on my colonoscopy either.
In the meantime I also started eating more in the way Ray Peat suggests. I really like it and a lot seems to be the food I grew up with.
Since I did gain some belly fat during menopause I started using some hormones. I take 1 or 2 drops of pansterone (from idealabs) and 2 drops of progest-e twice a day. I only started about 10 days ago.
Now I have symptoms of colitis again. Not bad but I can feel it. Some mucus and gas. I did not change anything in my diet.
Is ulcerative colitis related to hormones? I've never read about that neither did any of my gastro docs mention it. Is there any other reason why this could happen.
I feel very good and healthy for the rest. I sleep well, walk and laugh a lot. I'm definitely not stressed.
Any thoughts? Thank you!
