Colostrum suppresses serotonergic signalling in (overtraining) rats
-
I just bought a bag of bovine colostrum powder and I am really liking the effects so far: strong anti-fatigue, anti-serotonin effects.
I came across this study (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5508057) which shows that bovine colostrum can help mitigate the exercise-induced increase in central serotonin signalling in rats (through suppressing TPH). The rats that were fed colostrum could thus run faster on a treadmill... doesn't that sound wonderful?!
There are also studies done where colostrum supplementation decreased intestinal permeability induced by exercise: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5409709/
I am thinking that colostrum (and/or lactoferrin) can be a great tool for individuals that struggle with leaky gut, CFS/post-exertional malaise or similar health issues.

@Korven super intersting. I struggle with post exercise issues so I am going to try it. Also hoping it might help my immune system. I took it years ago before I had MCAS and remember it really helped my skin issues
