A testimonial of sorts, that B1 basically cured my years long struggle with digestive issues, doctors had given me a diagnosis of IBS, offered me colonoscopy after colonoscopy but after reading Roar of wolverine and researching more, I refused. So I was just left to my own devices.

I actually think I had made myself B1 deficient, probably through excess sugar consumption, so I have just cured something that has been self induced, but it does feel a massive relief.

My symptoms before were chronic constipation, if I ate any wheat or cows dairy, I wouldn't have a bowel movement for days at a time. My celiac blood test came back negative, but wheat was just a constant issue for me. I once went to the hospital because I was convinced my appendix had burst, the pain in my lower right abdominal area was so intense. After an examination, I was told I was just constipated. Alongside this had massive anxiety and hypochondria.

Around 18 months ago, I can't remember exactly why, I began taking regular thiamine HCL at around 150mg per day. I went away on holiday and ate a pizza, even though I knew it would give me digestive issues. To my surprise I had none at all. After a few weeks of thinking about it, I realised B1 had fixed my digestive issues.

Now 18 months on I don't take B1 daily, just when I feel my digestion slowly, maybe every week or two. I still can't fully believe it has worked. Last weekend I did an experiment where I ate nothing but pizza for 48 hours, took 150mg of B1 on the first day. Had absolutely no issues whatsoever. That would've killed me 2 years ago.

I consider myself to have zero health issues these days, as it'll be no surprise to most, I think one my gut health had improved, everything else improved along with it.

@rpc Very interesting, did you have any other indicators of thiamine deficiency apart from the digestive issues and anxiety? To what extent has the B1 helped with anxiety as well, was the anxiety a result of constipation or deficient B1?

@PeaterDinklage I'm not sure about other symptoms, I did have irritability and racing heart, but that could also be linked to anxiety.

Im also not quite sure if the root cause to the improvement in anxiety is from B1 or the gut healing, I'd just be guessing. I'm also at the point health wise where I don't spend any time analysing anything anymore.
