Taking TyroMix Orally
-
Hello all! I am going to start taking a low dose of TyroMix to see if it can help me with some of my problems and I am wondering what is the most effective way to take it orally. Is it okay to simply drop the liquid on my tongue and swallow with saliva? Or should I dilute it in a bit of water and drink it quickly to prevent the drop from being absorbed topically through the tongue? Perhaps I am over thinking it.
On a side note, I have seen some report taking TyroMix or other ones of the IdeaLabs ethanol-based products sublingually, but when I have tried this I definitely feel a burning sensation from the alcohol so I'm curious as to whether this could cause damage in the long term.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

@DMS I take sublingually. I do a single drop 3 times per day so it isn't much. My mouth is acclimated to the ethanol; I barely notice it especially from just one drop.
I don't know if this is the most effective but here's how I justify it. Under the tongue is well-known for allowing efficient absorption through the skin of the mouth. What doesn't absorb is swallowed and goes through the normal digestion process. So, I get absorption that bypasses digestion and/or liver plus I get the regular digestion too for some portion of it.

@cremes Interesting, thanks. Is there a specific reason you want to avoid it being processed by the liver? I thought that maybe it would be beneficial for it to pass through the liver given the liver's role in converting T4 to T3.

Why are you choosing to take it orally over transdermal if you don’t mind me asking?
-
@metabolicmilk I've seen mixed opinions on taking supplements transdermally in general and I figured oral would be the safer choice for starting out, especially since that is how thyroid has traditionally been taken.

@DMS I do not want to avoid it being processed by the liver. I want to avoid it being exclusively processed by the liver.
It's the same way I take Kuinone (mk4). I take 8 drops orally and 2 drops topically. For vitamin K, there are transport elements which are under competition by other vitamins (vitamin E and K compete, as an example), so it seems wise to allow for absorption by 2 routes.
It's not one or the other, it's BOTH.

@cremes Makes sense. Thank you!
