Idealabs Steroid Analysis Results: Progesterone combats estradiol and cortisol in the tissues.
-
Hi all,
My steroid analysis from Idealabs recently came back, and I am a bit concerned about the low levels of androgens (male in early 20s). I may have overdone it a bit with the progesterone (progestene) supplementation -- roughly 10-15 mg applied topically to the forehead roughly every other day. I suppose the stuff really works at liberating tissue estrogens and combating cortisol; however, I think it may be affecting my androgen production/metabolism.
Despite having low levels of estradiol and normal levels of testosterone, the lack of other androgens suggests estrogen dominance (Androgens/E1+E2+E3 < 100). The lack of androstenedione to DHEA suggests low 3-beta HSD activity (even though the DHEA is low as well!).
Other than dialing back the progesterone, could I ask you all for suggestions on correcting these imbalances? I am thinking a modest dose of DHEA (~5mg) may help.
I really have no obvious symptoms to speak of with respect to these imbalances.
