Does anyone here grow their own food? I have expanded my garden every year for the last few years and grow a lot of staples. Currently maintaining about 200 sqft of garden plus a strawberry field of 100 plants and maybe gotten in over my head.
I get seeds every year from rareseeds.com, very nice website for finding interesting and heirloom varieties. Their ancient melons were a hit with friends when I grew them. I would also recommend these carrots for carrot saladmaxxing.

@Peatriot I grew these carrots this year and really enjoyed them, very sweet and very little carotene. I also love heirloom melons. Charentais are the best I have grown so far. Planning on upping my operation this year and growing keeper melons with the hope of being able to eat homegrown melons until Christmas.

What growing zone do you live in?

@Peatriot I used to grow produce a few years back and had some great tomato and beet harvests. Got some extra seeds from friends from anniesheirloomseeds.com

These carrots look amazing. They would definitely keep the salad more interesting. Parsnips or other root vegetables might have similar effects to the carrot salad (the nisin peptide I think is the antibacterial part of carrots)

I would highly recommend y'all testing the soil you grow in for heavy metals. Supposedly, some areas can contain lead or mercury in the top-soil. You can reach out to some local chemistry departments at universities for this kind of testing.
