DMT may actually be produced primarily at the thyroid, rather than the pineal gland.

The enzyme to produce DMT is highly expressed in thyroid, and DMT dumped into blood quickly accumulates in the brain.

Thyroid hormones also are needed for proper 5ht2a (DMT receptor) expression.

Fluoride can harm thyroid function as well.
