Cyproheptadine, Serotonin and Dream Frequency/Vividness
-
To those who have used Cyproheptadine, I am curious to hear reports on dream frequency and vividness before and after use. Please be as detailed as possible. There is some interesting literature on reduced serotonin increasing dream frequency and vividness. The inactivation or inhibition of the serotonin system in humans seems to be essential for robust sensory, emotional, and creative experiences. I eventually would like to write an article about this so I'd love for everyone who has used cypro to share. Thanks!

@syrup
Just got some to try, I will report back if I notice anything different. Gonna start with 0.5mg before bed. -
This is definitely true in my experience, I just took 1mg last night and I had lots of very vivid dreams. I've noticed that I struggle to remember dreams as much when I've taken cypro though. This could be because I'm just having so many or because they are mostly early on in my sleep I'm not sure.

I've been taking ketotifen – a drug with a very similar structure and pharmacology to cyproheptadine, for a few months now to manage my chronic urticaria. At a dosage of 1.5mg per day, I've noticed vivid dreams with high recall.
