Hate the sound of velcro
-
Does anyone else have a physiological repulsion to the sound of velcro? I get a physical feeling like an itch in the back of my throat when I hear it and even when I just imagine the sound. It makes me feel like I’m turning inside out. I’ve never met anyone that shares this with me.

@skylark I get this with brushing sounds. Close, but not Velcro.

@MB When I was in the 3rd grade a substitute teacher couldn’t find the eraser. She took a dry dusty paper towel, began rubbing it on the dry dusty chalkboard and even now it makes me physically ill thinking about it

@saturnmissiles yes that’ll do it, so strange

@skylark yes I have talked about this before with my friends and family (another sound that I dislike very much is styrofoam, though not as much as Velcro, which even thinking about it now makes me wince in pain) — and the only person who gets me is a close friend of mine who told me that he hates the sound of metal grating on metal and told me that his dad and brother share similar things, and he said something about overstimulation and autism, which runs in his family.
