Lactose Intolerance From D3?
-
Recently took 100k IU of D3 and pretty much became lactose intolerant the same day (gotta run to the toilet 30 mins after milk). I was taking Cypro at the time but not sure if that was part of it as I took Cypro without D3 and was fine. I haven't taken any more Cypro or D3 but I'm still lactose intolerant (10 days later). I've never had lactose intolerance before. This sucks - what would you do in my situation?

@peatyrm That's a lot of Vitamin D. What product specifically?

You need lactase enzyme to assimilate lactose.
If exhausted, it takes time to rebuild, but very progressively. I'd advise every other day then with moderate amount of milk. So not one liter ... -
@LucH Just had only 50ml with a meal and had diarrhea. Even had a few days with 0 milk. This makes me think there's some other issue I need to deal with that's causing this?

Yes, it could be.
But when you lack lactase, you become intolerant, even with 50 ml milk. This causes then an immune reaction. If you don't stop, milk will be classified as an intruder (memory).
By the way, 50 % people intolerant to gluten are also intolerant to milk protein.
But don't tell you can eat bread and pasta without problem. It's not the case (zonulin). You repair during the night. Question of frequency and amount. Of course, it varies with time ...Milk can cause diarrhea in individuals with lactose intolerance or milk allergies. Lactose intolerance, a common digestive issue, occurs when the body cannot properly break down lactose, a sugar in milk. This leads to digestive symptoms like diarrhea, bloating, and gas. Milk allergies, though less common than lactose intolerance, also involve an immune response to milk proteins, potentially causing diarrhea and other allergic reactions.
PS: Not sure it's the main cause. Need to play as detective.

@LucH I'll have to do some experimentation...
-
@peatyrm On paper looks good, but given how cheap it is I do wonder if the oil is of dubious quality.
Is my math right, you took 25 pills in one go? Maybe some sort of immune reaction?
-
@peatyrm I forgot to mention, Cypro somehow seemed to make my digestion WORSE when I was taking it for a month. It actually felt like I was under the influence of an SSRI despite being the same brand (Periactin) that I had good experiences with before. I'm back to using it again now after a long break, in much lower doses (1mg/day instead 4mg/day) and getting good mood results.
Might be worth trying stopping all supplements and drugs (if you can) and seeing how you react to milk in a week or 2.

@Milk-Destroyer 1. Yep, 25 capsules and you're right, might've been an issue with the supplement. Although i noticed some positive results like whiter teeth which makes me think it might not be the supplement.
- Yes, Cypro was interesting for me too. I think it helped my poops but made me moody and tired to the point where it wasn't really worth it.
You're right, I've stopped everything except thyroid. Interestingly, 50mg Niacinamide makes the diarrhoea from milk less severe. It's still diarrhea so still pretty shit lol
Appreciate your help
