I want a deodorant that applies nicely (some natural organic type I've used isn't fun to put on, it feels really dry), isn't overtly poisonous, and won't ruin my clothes. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am not going to wear one with beef tallow btw. that's gross. and I'm not going to make my own. It should be in a roll-on/stick. Also, it doesn't have to be super hippie, because that usually means a compromise in usability (see previously mentioned hard to roll on organic kinds). For perspective, I actually use commercial Irish Spring soap which has a bunch of le bad stuff in it but it's fine for me.

@sunsunsun Can't recommend a real deodorant, but I have been using baking soda on my armpit and it works well. It masks the smell, doesn't leave stains, easy to apply. Never had any discomfort aside from a couple times when I put too much on or shaved and it got into a cut.

You can similarly just use milk of magnesia but it slightly messy.

Over the years my family has used many things for deodorant.

Baking soda works well but can be irritating for some of us. Diatomaceous earth also.

Milk of magnesia works very well and could be put in a roll on, but its better to put in a little jar or bottle and spread on with your hands. The magnesium dries and flakes on a roller ball.

I sometimes use 50% apple cider vinegar diluted with water. That can be put in a little spray bottle. It’s a fine toner for the face as well, although it doesn't smell great. The smell fades fast.

Thayers makes a witch hazel for acne that has 2% salicylic acid in it. It also says lemongrass on it. That is very effective as a deodorant and can also be sprayed on.

You don't exactly have to make these, and they aren't poisonous. Probably lots of things work, even rubbing alcohol in a pinch.

@Kilgore you but dry baking soda powder and rub it into your armpit when still slightly wet after a shower?

@sunsunsun Yes. Not rub it, just get it in there with a couple of taps.
