I agree that internet distraction is bad but I've done long days on my LCD working with text only (almost all black and white) with very little distracting internet browsing, and still felt super drained at the end. But on my E-Ink device, I can even watch videos and click around, and still feel very good at the end of the day.
Have you ever tried used an app like f.lux to reduce the blue light emitted by your screen? Would be interested to know if you would feel the same as when using your E-ink screen.
That would be a good experiment. I've never tried leaving flux on all day. I used to have it set on max in the evenings and it certainly works very well for allowing sleepiness to occur at the appropriate time. I'll try a full day on LCD but with maxxed flux the whole time and report back.
I was on my LCD all morning (about 5 hours) with flux at 1200K (so red that blues don't really display) Throughout I was sitting by my window and periodically looking at the daylight, as usual. So the screen was the only difference.
- I noticed my eyes feeling not too great after about 15 minutes
- To think about something, I had to kind of take a moment to bring it into my brain, especially true while i was looking at the screen. I would say i had and have some mild brain fog.
- I was more lazy and found myself having kind of browsed through text documents for an hour instead of truly being productive and just doing the stuff to be done.
- I do feel tired and a bit burnt out.
- My eyesight is now a bit blurrier
- Even an hour afterwards, including with time spent outside, I was a bit forgetful and made some cognitive errors (walking to the wrong place to get something)
- However, though I do feel brain fog, I would say i feel less brain fog than i did back when i used to look at the non-flux LCD screen. So either flux does help somewhat or I'm kind of "stocked up" on dopamine from all my e-ink usage.
- Also with flux I don't feel immediately visually "assaulted" by the screen's light the way i do when i look into a non-flux screen blasting light at me.
So an LCD with flux on and maxed out feels better than an LCD without flux, but not as good as E-Ink.
Interesting. Do E-ink devices emit less EMF?

Update:
Mostly inspired by this thread I have bought an E-Ink tablet . The Boox note air 4c.I had to become a mini expert on e inks but I think I made the right decision.
I've even using it for over a month and I like it so far. It's less taxing on the eyes.
And most importantly it doesn't feel weirdly stimulating, ADHD-inducing like LCD displays. It doesn't stress me as much.There is still a little EMF:
On the front the values go up to 0.5uT averaging 0.1-0.3 uT.
On the back there is close to zero or zero measurable EMF, so if you touch it on the back you can reduce EMF exposure.I can't use if for working I think it's too small for that. Typing also takes longer. So I'm using mostly the stylus to literally write what I want to post, which is fine. I'm also using text to speech which works surprisingly well. Still if I need to be quick, I don't use my E-Ink I go for my laptop or phone. If I only read, research do little typing it's a very good device.
Watching videos on it works as well and also feels less stimulating than on other devices.

@zaaku caffeine/coffee WITH sugar and milk, more fruit, less pufa, potatoes, sugar. I use aspirin when needed but don't want to over do it.

I usually have 2-3 cups of coffee so 20-24 oz. That's about 50mg x 3 (100-150mg caffeine).
2-4 oz milk, cream (or powder creamer) and 3-6 tsp sugar.I think there's some truth to the cortisol / black coffee thing. I used to drink black coffee like crazy and was always taught sugar was bad. Sugar and coconut oil or coconut cream with coffee is a great idea though I don't do it much.
I had lots of energy drinking a can or 20oz of regular Coke, eating one package of sliced cheese, and some bread or citrus/apples or fruit for lunch. I work on my feet so I need energy and this type of high carb is definitely keeping my mind and body upright. Naturally I get tired and can nap or rest easily instead of feeling absolutely burdened.
I think the problem with sedentary work is literally that getting up and moving around is not prioritized. I don't know if high carb would actually be good in sedentary work but probably lots of fruit and cheese or milk seems ideal. I used to have sluggish digestion, "serotonin-daydream," headaches, and general angst and was eating what I would call "trashy keto:" low sugar, pufa, zog slop, yogurt.
Anyways, I think yogurt with fruit and other carbs is good too, though probably small amount of yogurt.
A big reason for my interest in bioenergetics is body composition and fat. But I am almost certain there is seasonal variation. I gain 10 lbs from Nov - Feb and then it's minus 10 lbs in the warmer months. I don't know if it's just the December pufa / Christmas food, lack of sunlight and Vit D, low energy etc., but I'm convinced body weight, water retention, energy are working in cycles like this as generally everything else is in the universe.Does anyone have a clue?

I never noticed much energy surplus from liver, though I like it. Maybe the organic is better. I think good seafood and shellfish is 100% energizing; citrus and other fruits, potatoes. Frozen shrimp is probably one of the best and cheapest shellfish even with whatever heavy metals and contamination is present. It usually instantly gives me energy.
Spanish Shrimp:
fry garlic in butter, add shrimp, salt and pepper.
add parsley, add lemon juice. top with paprika when finished.
