Could private messaging be freed from the limit in characters, or would I have to go WhatsApp or Viber or telegram to chat?

I can't help but explain in an essay form when I answer, in order to be complete. And having to divide my thoughts in allowable chunks gets in the way of flow in my trend of thought.
I just spent an hour writing something that just went into the ether.
It has happened many times in the past. I'm only asking now as I'm frustrated why it has to be this way.
Or maybe I should ask that the conversation be made in the public chat instead? As maybe it is intended to dissuade people from using pm in favor of public chat so that information that is shared can be viewed by more and to elicit more comments, ideas, and opinions?

@brad I wrote a long reply to @razvan but the pm software deleted my entire reply thus wasting an hour of my carefully thought out response.
Why can't private messaging be freed from being restricted to short messages?
If short messaging in pm has to be enforced, can there be a character counter to let the person know way before he spends a long time writing only to realize his entire prose will be deleted?

@yerrag I just increased the length of PMs by 1000x. Let me know if that works.

@brad thank you!!

@brad I am overwhelmed by your disproportionate response! Thanks!

and all posters that use both the app and a browser off your desktop pc-
-
the app lets you continue as another paragraph in the same post when you hit the "enter," so you can easily amass a long post, while, OTOH...
-
the browser treats the "enter" key as the end of a post, so the next character types begins a new post, so long posts don't happen (unless you want to write a very long paragraph devoid of a line break)
I was using my cellphone app when I exceeded the previously set character limit, but when I began using the chrome browser on my desktop PC to access the forum, I found myself writing many short posts instead of a single post that is very long.
But this doesn't seem to just be a browser on PC characteristic, when I use Telegram or Viber, the 'enter' key terminates a post and begins a new one as well.
