Pure stearic acid vs cocoa butter for weight loss

On the hand pure stearic acid will for sure decrease scd1 and change fatty acid composition of mitochondria towards saturated (good) .
But with low oleic there seems to be some stress on the Endoplasmic reticulum, plus buying cocoa butter is much easier (and less expensive) than buying edible stearic acid.
I wonder if the results from coca butter can match pure stearic especailly if one is already using thyroid which means lower SCD1 in the first place (stearic will accumulate) .

I wouldn't use either when cutting unless I was completely sedentary. If you're cutting while training, carbs are the most muscle-sparing macro. Going low fat (10% of calories or less) is my go-to.

@thyroidchor27 I know about him. Remember, he's obese and has been obese for many years, probably because of some pre-diabetes type issues. The point of the high stearic acid diet is that it keeps you full for a long time which is useful if you are legitimately obese and have the leptin issues that come with that. Would not recommend if you are just looking to cut while lifting regularly.

@Energetic-Retard he's genuinely on the right path this time, but i believe the dude is a literal alcoholic, hence why he looks fat. he still downs a bottle of wine everyday, even before his current starch gelatin diet he was still pounding a bottle or two every day.

@Energetic-Retard nah man the main point is stearic acid is one of the only few fatty acids that displace PUFA from the mitochondria and increase the stearic to oleic acid ratio. Lauric for eg doesn’t do that. I agree for quick cut it doesn’t make sense but long term it definitely does. Keeping the weight off is more important than losing weight

@thyroidchor27 In my experience, if you are lifting, eating more carbs will help you lose fat while still keeping muscle and recovering from training. Eating pure stearic acid or cocoa butter is a waste of calories and money

If I remember correctly, in his video "The Pre-Emergence Diet: Low Protein, Tokelau and Coconuts", he mentions that the fats that displace PUFA from tissues are lauric and myristic acid (although I couldn't find anything about that). I don't know if it was in the same video, but he said that in a state of torpor stearic acid could still be easily converted into oleic, so it wasn't the best of alternatives if you're overweight.
But some of his recommendations apparently do increase the saturated:unsaturated ratio. Saturated fats downregulate the activities of Δ6 and Δ5 desaturases, and low protein also downregulates the activity of these two desaturases with some studies showing that it also downregulates SCD1(and others saying that it increases it).

@TexugoDoMel Thanks for that. From what Ive read Lauric seems to be burned off extremely quickly (although it does produce some systemic effects probably through increasing metabolic rate), while stearic due to being longer chained gets absorbed by the lymphatic system leading to incorporation into structural tissue.
Stearic acid only slightly outvalues oleic in cocoa butter so perhaps pure stearic is a probably much better idea (although idk where to find food grade ones , most of them seem to be labeled cosmetic).
Im not much concerned about stearic turning into oleic because T3 both dramatically downregulates SCD1 and also some level of oleic is necessary to avoid endoplasmic reticulum stress.

The pro Vitamin A crowd may also not like this, but they found almost a 7 fold increase in SCD 1 with vitamin A injection and it was not through thyroid hormone inhibiton (it was through changing nuclear transcription factors):

There are also other ways to inhibit SCD1 but I think increasing Stearic and Lauric acid intake while keep oleic acid constant or slightly decreasing , and also inhibiting SCD1 with thyroid and Vitamin A restriction(or eating beta carotene instead as theres a regulatory system where if system detects excess RA the enzymes that convert BC into vitamin A cease to function) could be the best way for long term adipose tissue loss. There's a cool seed oil extract that also dramatically inhibits SCD1 but sadly its very expensive.

I'm probably not from your country but maybe you can find stearic acid as Emulsifier(E570), food grade/USP.
How long do you intend to "restrict" SCD1? It seems to be contradictory to long-term PUFA depletion

@TexugoDoMel Thanks. SCD1 discussion seems to be a complex topic, in the liver SCD1 can be incrased while decreased in every other tissue and vice versa. I think its because liberated PUFA go to the liver and directly exert their influence on SCD1 there. Although I dont know how the opposite can happen if it happens.
