Intermittent fasting
-
Does anyone here know of greg o'gallagher (kinobody)? Curious what this community thinks of how well intermittent fasting has worked for him. He's been doing it for ~12 years now and has an excellent physique and looks healthy to me. Is there an argument for intermittent fasting? I used to fast in the past and felt great back then... now i am afraid to because of how much I've read that it is 'stressful' for you and ultimately crashes your metabolism and makes you skinny fat.

@Tarzan17 it is fun sometimes to get euphoric but all the time it seems really gay
ray says there is a charcteristic taste in mouth when ffa is high, and that happens in IF after some hours, and that is when the euphoria is high . i might actually try it again because creativity gets really high in such a state , but to do it everyday on a rigid schedule sucks because it generally leads to crashing and health problems . it does keep a nigga ripped tho
being able to cycle through nutrition at a very high rate combined with some occasional fasts seems best
skipping all meals until dinner on a certain day is fun sometimes

@sunsunsun so you agree it’s good for being ripped?

@Tarzan17 I guess

It seems like this thread is physique specific, so I'll answer in that context.
I was trying to follow Martin Berkhan's guide at one time.
It def helped with getting extra ripped, but as someone who already had a fast metabolism, I was already technically getting "lean gains" without IF, and didn't really need to drop into the single digits of body fat like I did on his IF/OMAD program. I trained for personal improvement in strength more than anything else. How well I was doing in the gym seemed to be more affected by my training program than nutrition, but anecdotally one of the only times I really ever backslid in strength was during this time. That could have also been because I was experimenting with a brand new training program that just didn't suit me, so who knows.
Anyway, I was really struggling to meet my caloric needs in the feeding window offered. My circadian rhythm strongly regulates my digestion, so in the months with less sunlight it was really difficult to not feel full all the time. Eating became a miserable chore with no satisfaction. I had to go back to a normal eating schedule.I later experimented with IF and longer fasts completely outside of anything to do with the gym or physique. I didn't make the connection between that sustained experimentation and my stress hormones wrecking my well being. Fortunately that situation directly lead me to Peat.
