Urine PH of 10, intolerance to Thiamin
-
Out of curiosity I tested the ph of my urine for 24 hours, and noticed that it was around 9-10. I read that there could be a relationship between CO2 levels, hyperventilation, potassium, bicarbonate and kidney problems with deacidifying the body.
Should I be worried about this? Could this explain my intolerance to vitamin B1?

Which B1 did you try? What was your reaction?

@mostlylurking All forms of B1 in low doses, especially HCL, even with co-factors.
On the other hand, on doses of 2g of Thiamin HCL I get no side effect, maybe a little fatigue during the come-up then a lot of energy after the peak (h+4) during the day. I'm considering 100mg injections once or twice a week. (following Dr Constantini protocol)

I think that it is promising that you get no side effects from 2 grams of thiamine hcl taken orally as that is the dose Dr. Costantini recommended for most people (dose is based on the person's weight). I take 1 gram of thiamine hcl, 2Xday and have done very well on it. I've been taking that dose for 3 years. I take one dose mid-morning and one dose mid-afternoon.
Taking 2 grams/day of thiamine hcl orally for 7 days equals to taking one 100mg injection of thiamine hcl per week.

@Appa What pH test strip are you using? The one I use is from Hydrion, which you can buy from Amazon, but I use the one where the pH tested is specific for urine and saliva, which ranges from 5.5 - 8, although it makes one which goes from 4.0 - 9 as well. Both of them are made for urine and saliva testing.
I've uses other brands from China. They are very off (not accurate). And I would also stay away from using pH that are of higher range, because they are not as precise (each incremental change in value is large).
You can also use pH maters, but I've found it inconvenient to use as calibrating each time is time-consuming and expensive. Though it may give accurate and precise results, using pH strips of good quality suits enough our purpose.
To get a better interpretation of urine pH test results, you also need to get saliva pH to put it in a better context.
It helps only to get an idea of your blood pH, by relating it with your breath rate. For more details, I can explain further.

Thank you for the clarification, I find that 1g twice a day like you 2 brings the most positive effect with the least side effects (I have tried 500mg, 1000mg 1500mg and 2000mg twice a day).
I will switch to one injection of 100mg per week as soon as I finish my stock of B1.

@yerrag I use the same ones you mentioned (Hydrion), in fact I got the idea to test the ph of my urine after reading one of your comments on another post about CO2 and baking soda, I always feel like I'm running out of air, the only time I don't feel winded is when I'm taking molecules like nicotine, caffeine, aspirin, niacin, thiamine, psylocibin, lsd etc. . . but it never lasts long.
I'd like more information, please, on all this, whether it's the ph of urine, saliva or CO2 and bicarbonate, I'd be really grateful, because as soon as I manage to sort out my breathing, everything stabilizes.

Thiamine massively improves oxidative metabolism and in doing so it normalizes the level of CO2.

@Appa If you are not taking bicarbonates the other causes of high urine PH I know of are dehydration or high ammonia. Some infections can cause hyperammonemia.
Very high doses of thiamine can raise urine ph but 9-10 seems too high for this.

@Appa urine color? sibo too can cause d lactic acidosis but ye generally this is from loss of bicarb, respiratory acidosis, thiamine deficiency

Sorry for replying very late. A few things got me busy and I had been wanting to reply but it took so long before aibgot freed up and by then I could not find it in my alerts anymore.
First off, saliva pH should always be around 1 pH higher than urine pH. If ever urine pH us higher than saliva pH, there is something really off such that this inversion occurs.
Now let me talk about the other deep end of it, where acid-base balance is optimal. To give you a perspective from that side, so you can understand where you are at currently.
When everything is peachy, you urine is more likely to be acidic, because most of the time, our body is getting rid of acidic waste. So do not expect much out of getting a pH of 7 from urine. A pH of 7 is expected from distilled water, which is neutral. But with urine, when during the day you get a value of 6.4-6.6, you are looking at the optimal pH. So long as the first criteria is met (saliva pH at around 1 pH above urine pH).
This is when you have all sources of acidity minimized in the body. Metabolically, you are running heavily on mitochondrial oxidation, producing CO2 which is a pH buffer, and producing a minimum of lactic acid and keto acids from the other metabolic pathways. Your body is not fighting off toxins and infections, nor are you taking drugs that are acidic. But there are acidic foods you take such as meat, which is a necessary tradeoff to getting nutrients from food.
Which is why when during the day, when you're not sleeping and eat, it is normal to see your urine pH go down to 5.5 or even lower to 4.5, as long as the first criteria is met (which I already described. Back read if you forget). At night, when we sleep, our lungs and kidneys are actively at work rebalancing our acid-base pH balance to make up for the acids we produce during the day. When you wake up at night and see your urine pH at 6,4- 7.2, you are seeing the effect of your kidneys and lungs at work and catching up by restoring your balance. Day in and out, you have a body that is able to provide you a basic foundation of health arising from having acid-base balance. Your body is a good terrain where disease does not step in like any uninvited stranger into your home. For me, this is how you can be assured you don't get cancer.
If your urine pH is 10, it is very likely your saliva is going to have a pH that is less than your urine. Your saliva being more acidic than your urine is a very bad sign.
Before I proceed with why, as this requires a lot of explanation, can you test both your urine and saliva pH and give me the values?
