Spice, K2
-
Hello,
This thread is concerning the drug spice or k2, not to be confused with the vitamin k2 or any seasoning.
To users with relevant knowledge of this topic, I humbly implore you to share your wisdom.
While I have personal interest in the subject, I hope this thread may serve as a place of general disgussion regarding this topic, as there seems to be no such existing discussion among Ray Peat enthusiasts, as far as I can tell at least.
Personally, I'm concerned with understanding how to counteract long term effects k2's use, ideally reverting the nervous system to the state it was in before it was exposed to the drug. I'm more than happy to share any personal details as best I can, but until they become revelant I'll spare the reader from further rambling.
Thank you very much for your time and may God bless you all

I many times did you use it? Just personal curiosity on my part. I never actually tried it, but when I was in rehab for morphine abuse nearly everyone I talked to had used it or at least tried it.
I think pregnenolone is important for regulating the endocannabinoid system and preventing toxicity. Granted, this is talking about real cannabis. But as I understand it, spice acts on the same receptors doesn't it? I think it's also possible for cannabis (and probably spice too) to cause disturbances with the NMDA glutamate receptors, causing psychosis and other issue. In which case, something like glycine or sarcosine can be helpful.

Hmm, well what effects specifically have you been dealing with from the use?

@Mulloch94 Once, three hits. I believe other drugs I was on at the time or had been abusing in the recent past, as well as other physiological issues that had been developing, potentiated the effects somehow. Hence why the results seem to have been so unusually persistent.

@Wily It's one of the only drugs i hear this about. Godspeed

@Wily Thanks for the info. Crazy to think 3 hits can have long-term lasting effects. I did do some basic web searching after I posted my original comment. Spice does in fact bind to CB1 (and CB2) receptors. So I would think pregnenolone is likely to help, however YMMV depending on what symptoms are manifesting.

I don't know much about Spice but I know a little. Probably the greatest room for issues is that there isn't a singular Spice; there are hundreds of synthetic cannabinoids. IIRC, the first synthetic cannabinoid which made its way into drugs was actually made by Pfizer. Most Spice comes from China or India, mostly China. There are zero quality regulations and it's reasonable to assume an amount of outside contamination.
The major synthetic cannabinoids are frankenstein amalgamations of aromatic compounds, amines, and whatever else. The result is that for most synthetic cannabinoids(save for the most common ones) have no toxicological assessment and their metabolites are unknown.
As to recovering the brain- progesterone, pregnenolone, thyroid, K2, D3, Vit A, niacinamide.
