Toxic Bile Theory
-
Hey, i was exposed to toxic bile theory and it seems solid. Can anyone debunk it?
-
@epstein-jeffery it doesn't pass the sniff test.
"If you don't get sick, you're not properly detoxing." Ok guy.
"It can take up to 3-5 years to detox and feel better." That's peak delusion.
-
@epstein-jeffery I've been reading up on it recently too. Similarly intrigued. There are some really good discourses on it on Grant Generoux's forum. Here's one example of someone bringing up their skepticism toward Low-A.
https://ggenereux.blog/discussion/topic/why-i-dont-think-this-is-a-legit-theory-anymore/And this article and super long comment thread on this post from 2018 is super long and pretty interesting.
https://180degreehealth.com/vitamin-vitamin-villain/These are more specifically related to Vitamin A as toxin as opposed to explicitly "Toxic Bile Theory". But lots of good stuff to chew on through the conversations.

@epstein-jeffery It's overly simplistic...
As explained in the following places

I heard the 3-5 year number. It made me sick for a minute. Asking people to wait 5 years for results is psychopathic!
I will say most people will have major health improvements eating mostly lean meat, beans and whole grains vs processed garbage and there is some merit to prioritizing digestion and liver function. At least it doesn't push some weird diet.
-
@Insomniac telling people 5 years to better health is a blank check to say whatever you want. Most people will be skeptical within a few months. After a year, I assume the majority of people would give up.
I'd tend to agree that it's healthier than keto or veganism. Eating beans all the time would be miserable for most people

Toxic bile theory really is no different than what Peat spoke of regarding endotoxin or LPS.
Keep endotoxin low
Find agreeable foods for YOUTBT: It’s just a gimmick
-
@Peatful @risingfire I think your both exactly right.
The low A people always group retinol with carotenoids and Ray Peat has always warned about eating too many carotenoids. Any benefits from the Smith diet could be from the Ray Peat recommendation to avoid carotenoids if you're hypo.
And of course the whole point of the famous carrot salad was to bind "toxic bile." Danny Roddy would joke about how often people would ask him for advice and he ask them "if they had tried a carrot salad."
RP was already focused on environmental toxins. He was writing about air quality, food/supplement quality, nano-particles etc.
Just thought I'd mention that In one of Grant Smith's streams he mentioned that not even his ex-wife bought into his ideas and she knows him much better than people paying him for advice.
