Post-Viral Illness

About a year ago I came down with flu-like symptoms for a week. However, I never fully recovered. I’ve been stuck with symptoms similar to histamine intolerance, CFS and post exertion malaise ever since.
I’m not vaccinated and have never been tested for whatever covid is exactly. What do you think Peat would recommend for this?
Since there has been no improvement in over a year, I was thinking of trying Ivermectin, but have heard rumors of it possibly causing fertility problems. I’m also pretty skeptical of how highly the mainstream media is speaking about it all of a sudden. Is it safe to take?
I had some thyroid labs done recently to see if that could be causing the fatigue:
TSH: 1.66
Free T4: 1.35 (range .82 - 1.77)
Free T3: 3.00 (range 2.0 - 4.4)
Total Testosterone: 742 (200 point drop from when tested directly prior to illness)Any ideas?

have you ever had your prolactin measured?
In one of Peat's oldest radio interviews on youtube he talks about this sort of thing, how thyroid will naturally be downregulated during a period of illness to conserve energy but sometimes people don't bounce back and thyroid stays depressed. It's how chronic fatigue syndrome starts for a lot of people. I don't know if it's a modern phenomenon.
I think experimenting with vitamin D, aspirin, thyroid or lisuride would be safer than Ivermectin. You obviously want to make sure you are eating well too.

@Mallard6146 It would be also good to check your adrenals:
DHEA and (morning + evening) cortisol levels.
Plus Hando-Jin's advice. There are a few podcasts with Ray talking about chronic fatigue - you can check them with the help of this site https://bioenergetic.life/?q=chronic+fatigue

Thanks guys.
I’ll get prolactin checked this week too. Will look at adding the DHEA and cortisol tests also.
Ordered some T3 a while back. I tried it last fall and 12.5mcg did eliminate all symptoms for a day. I only took it once though as I was worried about continuing on using an exogenous hormone.

Good. You may send updates here too.

Yep, first diagnosis, then relevant lifestyle, and dietary changes. Hormones should be used only if any other ways fail...
Have you tried to assess your thyroid with a natural method? I.e. measuring temperature and pulse upon waking and then after breakfast for a few days.
Are you already applying Ray Peat's principles/advice in your daily life and nutrition/supplementation? How is your sleep quality?

What do y’all think about the #nicotine treatment? Apparently a Dr. Leitzke believes wearing a low dose nicotine patch for long periods of time could cure long covid.

@Mallard6146 Interesting to see another person dealing with long covid here
I did a protocol of nicotine patches for about a month and it temporarily took away all my fatigue and PEM. The only downside is that it sadly started to give me sleep issues and insomnia so I had to stop using them. I find that either smoking cigarettes or using snus give me better results for eliminating my fatigue and not giving me as many sleep issues as the patches do.
Although everyone is different you should definitely try it and see how you feel since I see a lot of success stories coming out of nicotine use for long covid.
