Ice Cream Evening Chat

I heartily recommend the Haagen Dasz pineapple coconut flavor, its very good, though personally I usually stick to the vanilla bean. The Van Llueyeyyanan Earl Grey is also very delicious and unzogged, best I can recall
-
@john Pineapple coconut does not sound good as ice cream. But if the recommendation comes from you John? I might have to give it a try. Thanks for stopping by the ice cream chat.

Haven’t fully cleared it with the higher ups - but we are going to be allowing milkshake discussion too as part of general ice cream chat. Be nice to the milkshake heads.
-
@LinDaiyu scratch that. the milkshaker i extended i welcoming arm to is a rice enjoyer. They will never be welcome and will never be an ice cream head.
-
I'm enjoying a pint of coffee flavored haagen-dazs.
Criminally underrated flavor! I've been enjoying Van Leeuwen honeycomb ice cream these past few weeks.
-
@aanon I've been making ice cream as well the past 6 months and it wasn't until then that I learned almost all heavy creams are using some sort of gumming agent. There is not a single heavy cream at a regular grocery store that doesn't have it. You need to go to a healthier store like Whole Foods or Sprouts to even have a chance at finding heavy cream without any gums.
I've been using the Straus brand that comes in a glass bottle with amazing results.

@Dakota underrated flavor

It's yet another evening and we're spooning down more of God's coldest blessing.
What's tonight's theme? ICE CREAM!!!
Let the world know what you're feasting on this evening.

For me its another night of the classic coffee flavor. i'm not sure it can be beat. there could soon be competition though as the pineapple coconut recommendations have been pouring in. If I don't allow a forum to influence my real life decisions then what am i here for? yes, I shall be going for the pineapple coconut in due time, maybe even cherry vanilla too.

Recipe for ice cream by ray peat, has anyone ever tried this?
I blend an egg (warmed to 40 degrees C) with a cup of sugar (also warmed) and a cup of coconut oil until it's smoothly emulsified, and maybe half a cup of powdered milk for extra texture, then add milk to fill the blender (total volume a little over a liter), with strong coffee or orange juice for flavor, or other fruit or vanilla, etc. The high oil content, and powdered milk, make it freeze without crystallizing, so the ice cream machine isn't necessary.

Gonna be eating the strawberry Haagen dazs for a few weeks before i switch it out again.
-
@catharsis Earl Grey is a delicious flavor
-
@donovan How much do you buy at a time that it lasts for weeks? I'm feeling uncomfortable by your post.
-
@LinDaiyu i go to the shop every day lol. I enjoy walking around at night when no one is there, gets me more steps in as well.
-
@donovan Okay that is based. I used to be a strawberry main but I got a weird huge strawberry in there once with a strange texture that ruined it forever for me
-
@LinDaiyu that’s pretty funny. I was chocolate peanut butter from a local brand for a while before they changed recipes, then switched to Van Leeuwen honeycomb, now various haagen dazs flavors. Which ones you like?
-
@donovan I stick to the classics vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and of course coffee. I'm not very adventurous with ice cream flavors, but i do like to make a coke float now and again. Is the Van Leeuwen honeycomb as good as it looks?
