Having issues sleeping first trimester. Can fall asleep no problem but wake up several times a night. Here’s what I’ve tried, would love any suggestions

      Ice cream before bed
      Red light before bed
      Thyroid
      Large dose progesterone
      Pregnenolone
      Magnesium- topical and pill
      Eating something when I wake

Hi @functionalgirl, do you get enough calories during the day to keep your liver glycogen topped off during the night, and have you tried experimenting with different carb and protein sources and different carb to protein ratios?

Are you thirsty when you do? And if yes, are you responding to it and how? Pause for a moment to think about that, because thirst can be a bit hard to recognise sometimes.

Mabye it's the same as menopause? Because I have the same issue.
I've tried all those things. The only thing that works somewhat is eating/drinking carbs when I wake up at around 3. That helps with falling back asleep. The other things help more with falling asleep initially but not with waking up.

@Jennifer I haven’t kept track of this but I feel like I’m eating enough. I could look into it for sure

@happyhanneke I tried a mag glycine version and actually slept amazing for the first time in forever. Worth a shot even if it was just a fluke
