Please post lyrics that are life-affirming.

    The fortress in Ur

The rivers run through the land of Ur,
Where they meet, and high from a wall,
    You see processions with banners and streamers in the wind;
Where the rivers converge, the procession steps in.

A table with sapphire-adorned cups of gold,
    Shelves of knowledge, scrolls unrolled,
Halls with stringed music, song, and tune,
Ring-dances with flutes and harp-strings' croon.

Then it snows in the land: the snow of forgetfulness,
The fortress vanishes, forgotten the bread
That fed the five thousand mouths from the basket:
Faces bear blindly a thousand-year sorrow.

And none can recall the gentle features
Of the queen's face on that fair day,
When the land rested in sacred peace,
And all had love to give and embrace.

A door opens in the quiet evening,
Through the opening, you glimpse the glow of fire,
And voices that the wind carries forth as you tread:
This is something you’ve known before.

A hand rolls dice in the torchlight’s gleam,
    A foot steps in dance under soft, gentle linen;
They are here, your long-forgotten sisters and brothers:
This is something you’ve known before.

    Forget the toil for joy and the fear of sorrow;
It is here, all you need, there is bread in a basket,
From a mysterious table in a fortress so steadfast.

Look here, here is the day that flows,
Look here, here the sun rises for you,
Look here is a basket of bread for all,
In the fortress of the land of Ur.

@Norwegian-Mugabe That's beautiful. Did you write it? Or where did you find it?

        @jjk_learning It's from Stein Versto.

There are so many versions of Schönster Herr Jesu, Herrscher alle Herren, all over Europe. One of my favourite texts.

        Lovely is the earth,
        Splendid is God's heaven,
        Beautiful the souls' pilgrim road.
        Through the wondrous
        Realms of the earth,
We walk to paradise with song.

        Ages will come,
        Ages will fade away,
        Generations follow generations' path.
        Never will fade
        The heavenly melody,
In the soul's joyful pilgrim song.

        The angels sang it,
        First to the shepherds in the field;
Softly from soul to soul it rang.
        Peace over the earth,
        O humankind, rejoice!
For unto us an eternal Savior is born.

Put yourself on fire for peak energy metabolism.

        Ignore, judge, overcommit.

The most life-affirming for me have been those moments when faced with the choice to stay down or get back up and having chosen the latter. These songs in particular have been life-affirming for me:

I Will Get There ~ Boyz II Men

I've been wanderin' 'round in the dark
          Been lost somewhere
Where no light could shine on my heart
I have known a pain so deep
But I know my faith will free me

          And I'll get through this
          I'll find my way again
So don't tell me that it's over
'Cause each step just gets me closer
          I will get there

          I will get there
          I will get there somehow
          Cross that river
          Nothing's stoppin' me now
I will get through the night
And make it through to the other side
          Get there
          Get there

I've been in these chains for so long
I'll break free and I'll be there where I belong
Hold my head up high, I'll stand tall
And I swear this time I won't fall

          I will do this
          No matter what it takes
          'Cause I know no limitations
And I'll reach my destination, I will get there

          Walk ~ Foo Fighters

          Do you remember the days
          We built these paper mountains
Then sat and watched them burn
I think I found my place
Can't you feel it growin' stronger
          Little conquerors

          Learnin' to walk again
I believe I've waited long enough
          Where do I begin
          Learnin' to talk again
I believe I've waited long enough
          Where do I begin

          Now
          For the very first time
          Don't you pay no mind
          Set me free, again
To keep alive a moment at a time
But still inside, a whisper to a riot
To sacrifice, but knowin' to survive
The first to climb another state of mind
I'm on my knees, I'm prayin' for a sign
Forever, whenever, I never wanna die
I never wanna die, I never wanna die
I'm on my knees, I never wanna die
I'm dancin' on my grave, I'm runnin' through the fire
Forever, whenever, I never wanna die
I never wanna leave, I'll never say goodbye
          Forever, whenever, forever, whenever

Dare You to Move ~ Switchfoot

          Welcome to the fallout
          Welcome to resistance
          The tension is here
          Tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be, yeah

          I dare you to move
          I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
          I dare you to move
          I dare you to move
          Like today never happened
          Today never happened before

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself
          Where you gonna go
          Where you gonna go
          Salvation is here

              Stufen (Steps)

              As every blossom fades
and all youth sinks into old age,
so every life’s design, each flower of wisdom,
attains its prime and cannot last forever.
The heart must submit itself courageously
to life’s call without a hint of grief,
A magic dwells in each beginning,
protecting us, telling us how to live.

High purposed we shall traverse realm on realm,
cleaving to none as to a home,
the world of spirit wishes not to fetter us
but raise us higher, step by step.
Scarce in some safe accustomed sphere of life
              have we establish a house, then we grow lax;
only he who is ready to journey forth
              can throw old habits off.

Maybe death’s hour too will send us out new-born
              towards undreamed-lands,
maybe life’s call to us will never find an end
Courage my heart, take leave and fare thee well.

              (Hermann Hesse)

Sounds better in the original language.

I've never been a big party attender, but I never went to a party where I didn't probably offend most of the people there by talking about what I was interested in. (Ray Peat)
