Quick Question: Is it safe to buy raw milk from an indian supermarket?
-
This is a relatively well-off town. Is it a good idea? How would I test it myself? And if none of this works, how do you get into contact with a legit farmer?

What state/country are you in? I know for texas you can look up all farms that are licensed to sell raw milk but your best bet would probably be go to your local farmers market and ask around.

I bought some raw milk in Panaji when visiting friends in Goa, it's definitely of a lower processing quality (and likely feed quality by the taste) than back home as it went off far faster than other milk I bought around India.
Speaking for myself, I would just buy pasteurised. Raw milk typically tastes better. but nutritionally isn't significantly different when consuming it in the quantities I typically do (1L+/day).
The India I saw is generally less hygienic than mid-19th century Europe, so my advice would be to just buy the best pasteurised milk you can find and not worry about it.

I would literally not go within 10ft of an Indian Supermarket let alone consume raw produce from it. Sanitation isn't their strong point.
