did taking Armour the Peat way at night worked for you?
-
@risingfire what should the pulse be when waking? I took this am my temp before getting out of the bed and it was 98, I believe my pulse before raising is low 60's, same when sleeping
-
@GRay 70's maybe 80's. If it's the 90's with lower temps it's probably adrenaline
-
I have measured a coupe of times my am temp before rising with two different thermometers. A glass under armpit shows low tempt at about 97, but the Braun ear always shows about 98.
what do you think about this? if I follow one thermometer I'm hypo, but the other says I'm ok
-
@GRay mercury should be more accurate. Have you looked up the symptoms of hypothyroidism?
-
yes many times, and it is a bit confusing. Following Ray Peat on the thyroid effect/benefits has been more helpful.
-
@GRay so what are your symptoms?
-
@risingfire lately, I'm not so sure.
when I was doing half grain before lunch and dinner I remember seeing my HR at rest to low 70's or a bit less, TSH at 1.0 with this. Some cold hands during the day, often after eating actually.
Adding a 1/4 of a grain later in the day with dinner I thought it helped with feeling more strong at the gym, be able to carry more conversations with people, having more energy for it and feeling good.
I tried this twice, TSH at .7, but I realized that taking thyroid in the evening disrupt my sleep, so I cut back again on the extra 1/4 for the past 7 days, and I fall asleep better.
Water retention so far, and I tried to use the glass thermometer under armpit after lunch yesterday, it showed 98.3 or a bit less, Braun ear always shows btw 98.4 to 99.1 max
I'm putting together a chart with the help of chatGPT searching under Ray Peat and Dr Alan Cristianson recommendations, to track thyroid symptoms during the day. I want to try to keep TSH at .5 or a bit less, see how I do with that

@risingfire forgot to mention probably the most important symptom is constipation/slow food transit, but I'm dealing with SIBO, so I'm not sure how much comes from Thyroid or if it is only SIBO itself
-
@GRay did you have these symptoms prior to Armour? You should take take thyroid after the meal per Peat
-
@risingfire the constipation slow food transit symptoms?
I think it all started years ago when I decided to stop my NDT for a trial, at that time I was using 1 grain NP Thyroid in the am before breakfast. Soon after that, I remember complaining of gut motility issues, from there things started to get worse and never really recovered from it.
I understand Peat advise to take it multiple times with food, and I agree 100% when it comes with synthetic T4/T3. But I'm questioning if NDT is actually ok or better on empty stomach. When I was taking the 1 grain NP on empty stomach, my FT3 after about 2/3hrs came back at 4.5, 6 hours after ingestion at 4.1, not much of a difference.
I generally think NDT should be taken twice per day, sometime even once.
-
@GRay I would consider cascara if you're having problems with transit time.
Peat recommended different things for different people. He generally recommended cynoplus or cytomel instead of NDT. NDT may not always be accurate per batch
