Antioxidants that are less likely to contribute to reductive stress
-
A trend of taking as many antioxidants as possible has become pretty mainstream in some health circles but as we know this can contribute to reductive stress which is highly unfavorable. Instead focus on supporting the bodys own antioxidant systems and when intaking antioxidants exogenously focus on ones less likely to contribute to reductive stress and negatively impact oxidative metabolism if antioxidants are of interest
Molecular hydrogen: a highly Selective antioxidant that targets bad ROS and leaves important ones for signalling and redox. It can even increase ROS when needed and some studies even show it increases coq10 levels
CoQ10: Boosts NADH to NAD+ conversion, improves electron flow, and still works as an antioxidant
PQQ: Raises the NAD/NADH ratio, lowers lactate levels, while being a strong antioxidant.
Anthocyanins: some may act like quinones in the electron transport chain and beneficially affect nad/nadh ratio while also quenching Ros
Glycine: this is likely superior to supplementing glutathione for a reason. An excess of glutathione helps cancer cells survive and can promote a reductive state (from haidut himself). Glycine is a precursor that will help the body make enough dont go overboard on the glutathione capsules and powders and forcing unnaturally high amounts into yourself
A few Sources of each of these can be
Molecular hydrogen tablets and generators
Beef heart itself is a great source of coq10
Kiwi does have some pqq but supplementing is likely the best option
And Anthocyanins can be found in a wide variety of berries and fruits
