Has anyone tried ordering products from them for personal use? I am looking at aspirin and progesterone powders mainly.

@AR04 Sigma hates to sell to the general public, and at least progesterone will get you a phone call from customer service asking for paperwork such that you're allowed to buy it.

I know someone who ordered guanosine from Sigma. This person also has ordered malic acid and phenylalanine from scbt, another chemical supplier.

Both will sell to you if you have a business address. Say that as a private entity your business conducts research. That the compounds will never leave the facility. Say you are committed to following the guidelines, safety precautions according to the MSDS. You have a lab set up. Etc. It is best to not go into the details for your usage other tgan something vague like "for growing fungus for research". Have a business email address too.

Keep in mind that not all products are pure. They don't always have heavy metal testing. I'm not sure of the concern with this.

Look for "USP grade" as the quality signifier. This is what you would get over the counter in terms of testing for contaminants, while not using fillers etc that are typically in normal pills for aspirin and no heavy metal contaminants for the progesterone.

@DBL21 do you think heavy metals are a concern with progesterone and other hormones from China (Purple Panda Labs)?

@basebolt I have no idea. I know there's some guy who produces some kind of mass spec reports for these kinds of things, but I would shoot for USP grade of anything you put in your body AT MINIMUM
