Endotoxin/LPS causes muscle weakness/damage (myopathy), vitamin E is protective
-
It looks like we can add vitamin E to the list of remedies against endotoxin/LPS, at least when it comes to muscle health/strength. Endotoxin/LPS is well-known to induce systemic inflammation and one of the core symptoms of systemic inflammation is muscle weakness, which eventually progresses into muscle loss (sarcopenia) if the endotoxin assault continues sufficiently long. There are virtually no known remedies for inflammation induced weakness, aside from aspirin and anabolic steroids, the latter of which has significant side effects. The study below demonstrates that vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol specifically) may be one of the main endogenous protective factors against systemic inflammation induced by endotoxin and the resulting myopathies. The benefits of vitamin E in this case cannot be explained with its antioxidant effects, which suggests that its role as a COX/LOX inhibitor is probably the main mechanism of action.

“…αT concentrations in the liver, heart, and adipose tissue of WT mice were higher than Ttpa-/- mice. Although αT was detected in the brain, muscle, and serum of WT mice, it was undetectable in these tissues of Ttpa-/- mice. Cerebellar and serum concentrations of IL-6 were increased in LPS-treated groups but were not significantly affected by genotype. Grip strength was reduced in LPS-treated groups, an effect that was more pronounced in Ttpa-/- mice. Systemic LPS administration caused an acute inflammatory response with a concomitant decline in grip strength, especially in Ttpa-/- mice. αT depletion appears to exacerbate reductions in grip strength brought on by systemic inflammation.”

is there a way to regularly take aspirin and vitamin e. like aspirin 2-3x a week and vitamin e 2-3x a week on different days than aspirin?
-
@Bling5 Why would you take it on different days? Both can be taken continously and sholdl have nice, synergistic effects,
-
@Kvothe this is exactly what I do most nights, vitamin E with aspirin and some glycine. I have high “recovery” on my whoop when I take the above combo - not that it’s very accurate per se, nevertheless I feel a lot better and more recovered.

For anyone researching the related topics of myopathy, muscle weakness/endurance, NAD and lactate, be sure to check out the RP forum for more info. There you'll find info on how Thiamine and especially Niacinamide can be helpful.
