Hyperactivity could be caused from phosphate sensitivity.
A phosphate free diet significantly reduced the symptoms of hyperactivity in children.

Once exposed to phosphase, the symptoms returned for 3 days in most cases.

I believe the avoidance of phosphate is also helpful for reducing hyperactivity in adults.
