How often do you urinate? How to reduce frequent urination?
-
@donovan Oo ok wow this is kind of blowing my mind lol. Gonna think on this, thank you for reply
-
I second donovan. I drink half gallon of milk and then another half gallon of coffee/redbull/oj/pepsi/etc a day, after upping my salt intake to 1-2 tbsp a day and upping my thyroid I don't piss as frequently. and seriously stop drinking water.
-
@djoats are you stressed? high cortisol levels increases urination
-
Maybe 10 times a day. I drink a lot of coffee and tea and two big glasses of salted milk. I stop drinking liquids around 4 or 5 hours before bedtime.
Is your prostate okay, if you are male?
-
@bronzeagepeater I don’t think I’m any more stressed than the average person but noted, thank you ser
-
@djoats biggest thing I’d say, which is what everyone else including me said is increase sodium and replace water with milk and juice. You’ll be fine, good luck
-
@Ecstatic_Hamster I believe my prostate is fine although sometimes, especially lately, I’ve been dealing with constipation. Working on fixing that now. Question for you, do you ever feel like peeing 10 times a day is effecting your quality of life? Having to get up from my desk in the middle of doing something, or having to leave the theater in the middle of a movie is super frustrating to me and is why I’m trying to reduce frequency
-
Generally, the higher your metabolic rate, the more water you evapourate/sweat and the less you piss, Ray actually said a good test of metabolic rate is to measure the amount of liquid you're consuming vs pissing out.
-
it does interfere if it's too often. But the question is, do you have a lot of volume of urine when you do pee?
-
I noticed a big improvement with urination frequency after addressing bloating with carrot salad and mastic gum. Chalk it up to the fact that previously enlarged, bloated intestines were squeezing the bladder
-
@djoats sounds like you have a tight pelvic floor if you having trouble with constipation and urinating often. You should look up the symptoms, if it gets worse it can lead to erectile disfunction and pain between you legs. I was just lurking but made an account quick when you listed off the symptoms because a similar thing happened to me.
-
@Ecstatic_Hamster umm, is 2024 women can have prostate?
-
@djoats try to make sure your salt intake is low so your body can absorb the water better. also do you long the visit to the bathroom until your bladder is full or just when you need to go?
i drink around 2-4 litres of water and i urinate probably 5 times a day (including post waking up & pre sleeping) -
@djoats Its not a good long term solution, but in a pinch NSAIDs enhance the effects of anti-diuretic hormone, helping to retain water. Theyre commonly used for bedwetters and diabetes insipidus
-
@djoats Don't think, read

@djoats @GenEnergyNotes (on X) just had a tweet on this. But yeah I agree with the other dude, water doesn’t hydrate you (as evidenced by marathon runner / kidney issues), you need electrolytes (this is why Gatorade exists, athletes need more than just water to replenish what is lost in sweat). High adrenaline (typically compensating for low thyroid) and/or low electrolyte intake are big factors. Coffee, teas, milk, fruit juice, cucumbers, fish, cheese, these hydrate better than filtered water. If you crave some water, have some with some pickling salt (pure sodium chloride) and don’t overdo it. Sparkling mineral water is nice. Don’t drink a ton of water before bed and make sure you end your day with tolerable carbs to keep liver glycogen topped up.
-
@Supersnake17761 Thanks for the reply and were you able to solve the pelvic floor issue and if so how? I spent about 2 weeks doing about 10 mins of pelvic floor exercises daily and noticed no difference for myself unfortunately but it could be that I wasn’t working the muscles correctly
-
@JAY Will check that thread now and thanks for the reply. Replacing water with juice/milk

@djoats you need to do some stretching and breathing, not strengthening, strengthening while it's thight might make things worse. https://youtu.be/8OYMx_aw8E0?si=6Ij8xczNkFupnWRS
Make sure you take deep breaths while you preform the stretches and try to relax your floor.
Especially if your job has a lot of sitting you probably have thight hip flexors and weak lower abdominals. One note if you do lift weights DO NOT perform those stretches on a leg day you will wreck your lower body for weeks if not months. The only people who need kegels are people who accidentally pee themselves while laughing or lifting something and sometimes you can have weak erections from lack of strength but I had weak erections from blood flow being cut off because my pelvic floor was hyper thight so it can go both ways.
