High-dose Pregnenolone
-
Are there ANY possible issues with high-dose pregnenolone (~100mg/day)? Could it "overload" the liver in any way? Would vitamin A dose have to decrease to compensate for reduced need to convert T3?
Most studies use this amount or more... interested to try. Welcoming any personal anecdotes, cautionary tales.

If I can. Why do you want to take such high doses of pregnenolone?

@Fructose thanks for asking. Mostly to battle anhedonia, fatigue, hair loss, dandruff. My nutrition is solid, i've addressed sources of external toxins, and I regularly work to clear the gut. My bowel movements have been great for a few months. Fluid intake seems balanced.
I've dabbled with thyroid at various ratios and it seems to make the hair loss worse. I use low-dose pregnenolone to very slight good cognitive + energizing effect. Seems there is something to vitamin A with the dandruff and hair loss, but I find it hard to figure out the right dose. I think maybe the pregnenolone could bypass my issues with thyroid.
I should say that overall I'm pretty healthy and fit. Body looks good. Libido good.

If you don't have liver problems and major hormonal dysregulation, you can try.
I would also be careful with estrogen and monitor for signs of estrogenization. High doses will likely be effective on the nervous system. Some research suggests that certain doses of pregnenolone can combat depression and anxiety problems.I don't think pregnenolone can significantly interact with T3 and vitamin A. I don't think it matters in this context.
If you don't have any side effects with the 75mg dose, you can increase the dose to 100mg and see the effects.

@Fructose interesting how observer rated depression for placebo and PREG groups were the same. Both significantly decreased at 12 wks.

Lol. it just shows the power of placebo.
It also seems to me that chronic use of one dose for x amount of time may simply reduce sensitivity to the supplement. Often observed as pharmacological tolerance.
I am also curious about co-existing variables, i.e. diet and environmental factors in general. Surprisingly, the placebo at the end had the same net effect as pregnenolone.

@Fructose Very interesting
