Oyster scource

Anybody knows if oyster meat packages (frozen or non frozen) retains the same quality as canned smoked oysters?
Is the quality typically good? I realized oyster meat when not canned and smoked is often cheaper for a larger quantity so that makes me wonder... Ofcourse that could just be the price of the can....
I cant find any information on this, so input would be very appreciated.
