Homemade SolBan
-
@heyman you also dissolve the succinic acid firstly in ethanol just like salicylic acid?
They are recrystallizing, but then I heat a bit and swirl to dissolve before applying, guess I'll have to keep doing so with this batch
How would you describe the skin effects when using Solban? Do you get any kind of skin tightening effect (like less puffy skin) or the effects presents themselves as mostly clearer, brighter skin, less redness? Anything to report about applying it on pimples/acne?
Have you seen this post?

Thanks!

@Phoenix007 Yes first the acids, although I don't know if the succinic acid is necessary to disolve in the ethanol first.
I already had good skin (been peating for over 15 years) but it just feels very good on the skin, fresh, especially when it's warm outside. Invigorating. I did some testing and was out all day from early in the morning to late night, with strong sun and all I used was a few sprays of solban in the morning and when I got back home. No burning, just a nice tan.
I find it easier to use 100ml bottles, bought some 60ml bottles but they crystalized. No idea why.
Have not tried thiamine in solban, you know what I will order some hcl and try it! I use ttfd but I think the smell would be not so nice.
Edit: Sprayed some on me and yes it does have a skin tightening effect. Feels nice on the hair aswell.

@heyman Good catch about the bottles, I was using 60 and 50ml bottles, I'm gonna use larger bottles on my next batch and use thiamine HC, will report here.
Btw if you don't mind asking, since you mentioned TTFD, have you used other forms of B1 like HCl, if so, how does it compares to the effects of TTFD? I've been using high dose HCl (1,5-3g/day) but have been considering changing to TTFD as it seems more cost effective compared to thiamine at those doses.

@Phoenix007 I could only tolerate hcl at first, tried ttfd but my stomach got all upset. I had to slowly increase my hcl dose, together with magnesium.
Think it's called the paradox reaction, that you get worse until you get better. Took 2-3 months for me until I could take ttfd.
When there is money there is always a vested interest, ttfd got shilled massively by that elliot dude. That business 101, try to create some sort of monopoly and then shill your product - he has the ttfd without excipients.
Try ttfd it's not that expensive but be vigilant.

Where did you guys get caffeine powder?
-
-
I got the B3 and caffeine to dissolve completely, but not the salicylic acid. Well, it dissolves in warm ethanol, but precipitates when chilled.
Maybe the water I added was a little too cold, but doesn't Haidut's stay dissolved? Not only that, it's a different color. (Maybe because that bottle is super old?)
I wonder if he is still using magnesium acetylsalicylate. That would make it more water soluble. (Though it should still break down into salicylic acid anyway...)
I would ask him how he gets the SA to stay dissolved, but that seems dishonorable.

has anyone considered using thymol, menthol or camphor crystals to add a cooling effect?
-
@Cicero magnesium acetylsalicylate is more soluble?
-
@Cicero I'm almost ready to make my own SolBan too and have everything except distilled water. Are you using a magnetic stir plate? It seems like it's the way to get the salicylic acid to dissolve completely but I haven't tried it yet.
