I’m taking my family on a vacation with my parents soon. When we went last year, there really wasn’t any way to prepare food or bring enough, so the only option was to eat at the restaurants. Is there a way to mitigate the damage? I’m not crazy about undoing the progress I’ve made on going low-PUFA, but the trip is more important to me.

        Enjoy yourself

If you want to mitigate, you can always consider aspirin or vitamin E

The further society drifts from the truth the more it will hate those who speak it.

Sounds good. I already take Vit E with dinner, but maybe I’ll take it with breakfast and lunch on the trip. I had to temporarily stop aspirin because I have a gastric ulcer that likes come back when I take any NSAIDs regularly. But it’s a few months off, so I’ll be good to go taking it with meals by then.

@KillaJ yup bro hit the nail right on the head. aspirin and vitamin e will be good as long as you keep PUFA intake to a negligible amount. Dont know where youre going for vacation, but try to favour eating fruits is what i do on vacation

@KillaJ There is usually a "better" option on every menu. Especially, if you are in the west and europe. I recently was able to eat a low PUFA/high SFA diet using hospital meals and chocolates from the convinience store.

I would tend to go with food that isn't fried and you will be okay. If you are forced to get fried food, choose the fried food that isn't battered / deepfried and most importantly, add a lot of saturated fat to the diet to displace the PUFA. You may end up gaining weight from the extra calories, but it will counteract the PUFAs. For example; if you were forced to eat at KFC, get a large milkshake / ice cream with the meal.

We’re going on a cruise, so I’m more limited while on the ship. I rarely eat fried food because it gives me the shits anyway. I’m going to try to eat as much fruit as possible, maybe hard boiled eggs so they’re not cooked in vegetable oil. I can bring a bunch of gelatin packets at least. I just know it will overall be a lot more PUFA than I usually get. My only source now is from the natural amount that’s in meat, milk, eggs, and solid fats.
