@Mulloch94 It's hard to talk to people like you because that study is speculative at best. It's not even about longevity.

RE: 4chan on Peat
@Mulloch94 It is not. All other interventions have a shabby scientific basis at best. It's pretty much all animal studies many of which don't even control for calorie intake. I don't care if say, fisetin elongates the life of mice. It is a terrible idea with a horrible track record to extrapolate from animal studies. There is nothing that comes close to caloric restriction.

RE: If Ray Peat is so great, why is he dead?
Because he's not so great, he's quite the charlatan. In human studies PUFAs are typically helpful or neutral, yet his claim that they're toxic is probably what he hammers on the most throughout his work. The fact that he died of a stroke makes sense given that he preferred saturated fat, so much so that he would even use hydrogenated fats to avoid the little amount of PUFAs in coconut oil.
@Evolutionarily said in If Ray Peat is so great, why is he dead?:
It seems plausible to me that in the 85 to 100+ age range, genetics may play the largest role
Not only does this directly contradict Ray Peat's own claims but it is also wrong. Read de Magalhães or whoever.

RE: 4chan on Peat
@pittybitty You're ironically presenting a view opposite to that of Ray Peat i.e. the wear-and-tear point of view.

RE: 4chan on Peat
Fasting is currently the only known intervention that successfully elongates life. It is not a bad thing at all.
I've seen retards think that because hypothyroid people can gain weight on low-calorie diets that that means CICO is bunk. CICO is a physical law, what you're trying to say is that BMR needs to be taken into account and that certain foods significantly affect metabolism (i.e. CO varies). In practice diets targeting weight loss tend to perform about the same and the vast majority of people have a predictable BMR. Hence as long as they restrict calories they lose weight, whatever it is that they eat.

RE: Race and IQ
@Sugar you always talk with this authoritarian little fag tone, like we're supposed to ascribe to your shitty beliefs just because. It doesn't matter one single bit what Ray Peat's message is when said message is wrong. After several generations, the Dutch didn't suddenly have their skin turn black in South Africa. Similarly, southern migrants moving up north consistently get mogged by European or American natives on every intelligence test and it has been that way since forever. There are mountains of genetic studies showing the exact opposite of what you claim, and Ray Peat's silly takes on twin studies don't negate them.
You ought to refrain from using words like 'racist', 'beautiful' etc. when these are meaningless adjectives you use to try and give negative / positive connotations to ideas that are respectively valid / invalid. There is nothing compassionate about having niggers multiply and screw up every environment that hosts them. There is nothing compassionate about being deluded and trying to delude others.
@buckminster said in Race and IQ:
If you showed up to their culture they would think you are a monumental idiot who knows nothing, and would die helplessly.
Do you know anything about colonial history?
