The responses from other users so far are good, I would focus just on simple things first, good carbs are essential, make sure you have enough through the day and before sleeping (ice cream, milk with a pinch of salt).
Your sense of urgency towards this might come from an overactive adrenergic (stress) state, you could take things slower to actually reach a faster, sugar-oxidative metabolism over time.
Good leisure as in play, socializing, bonding with family is always a good idea.
