Since spring, I’ve been on TRT, clomiphene, pregnenolone, and DHEA. My testosterone is over 1000, estrogen is 61 (high per the test), DHEA is high (451), and pregnenolone rose from 15 to 30 but is still low.
I called my TRT doctor last week because I don’t feel as good as I did a few months ago. The constant “zest for life” and feeling unstoppable have become occasional, and I’ve felt more emotional. I assumed it was from high estrogen, but my doctor dismissed this, saying the testosterone-to-estrogen ratio is fine and I lack typical symptoms like nipple sensitivity.
The other morning, I had one of those waking pre-conscious thoughts to try Progesterone. I had a bottle of Progest-E, so I swapped my usual pregnenolone for a small amount (1-2mg) on my wrist that night. Within 20 minutes, my face warmed, my mood lifted, and I felt calm—completely different from pregnenolone, which usually does nothing for me. The next night, I tried 3-5mg with the same result.
Yesterday, I felt good overall but noticed some aggression after the gym. Not sure if it’s the Progest-E or unrelated.
I have a few questions:
-
How often can I take this progesterone? One of the things I'm worried about is that my testosterone is already high, and if less estrogen is aromatizing then it could drive my testosterone even higher
-
How would you consider taking DHEA and pregnenolone with it? Can I take them all together or should I do like one week pregnenolone, one week progesterone? My pregnenolone levels are still low (which I think is from it converting to cortisol)
-
What kind of side effects should I be on the look out for? Like what would be an indicator that I've overdone it and should back off taking more progest-e?
Edit: Also want to add within maybe 30 mins - an hour of taking the Progest-E my libido went through the roof, but felt different than the TRT horniness that I get sometimes which feels more like high estrogen and compulsive more than anything. Not sure what to make of that
