@Mr-X I recently discovered this experience as well. I started taking desiccated bovine thyroid by Ancestral Supplements and 72hrs later developed a hive reaction. Stopped taking it and the histamine response disappeared. Not sure what to do, I’m postpartum and breastfeeding so I don’t know if synth thyroid is okay to use. I’m getting a thorough thyroid panel (TSH is .99) to look at t3 and t4.

Hive Response to Bovine Thyroid
Hi all,
I developed a histamine reaction after taking 30mg nightly of bovine thyroid by Ancestral Supp. It started about 72hrs after taking it and itchy feels would kick in at bed time. From what I’ve seen on the old RP forums, this isn’t uncommon for some due to proteins.
I am 7.5 mo postpartum and breastfeeding with typical hypo symptoms (cold extremities, dry skin, hair loss, weight gain etc). My TSH is .99 and I’m about to have my T3, T4 and thyroid antibodies checked to rule out Hashi.
LDL is 193 so high, also symptomatic of low thyroid.
Should I wait till further blood work comes back before trying the bovine thyroid again? The histamine reaction wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t pleasant either. Would this be okay to supplement while bf? I have seen that it shouldn’t be an issue for milk.
Appreciate the support!
