Progest-e raising morning temps...
-
If I take about 9mg of progest-e the night before my morning temps are up quite significantly by approx 0.3-0.4c. However if I don't take it they are back to being low. Will they eventually stay up? What is the mechanism of progest-e raising my temps?
Thanks

Are your normal temps (without progesterone) already euthyroid?
Progesterone can increase temperatures through a variety of mechanisms, most notably by countering estrogen's effects. But it will also increase GABA and thus antagonize adrenaline. It will also lower thyroid binding globulin (TBG) which increases more free T4 and T3.

@Mulloch94 my temps without progesterone are 36.3-36.4 and raise to 36.7-36.8 with progesterone. I'm just wondering if eventually my temps will stay higher if my body produces more progesterone? Thanks

@Mulloch94 I'm guessing my estrogen has been higher due to having a varicocelece and varicose vein in legs. Maybe the progesterone is correcting that. I heard estrogen lowers the temperature set point and progesterone raises it. Thanks for your help.

@BeamsOfEnergy It's worth noting there is some disagreement about what the ideal temperature is. Ray has basically always settled on the 98.3-98.6 (36.8-37) zone. But Broda Barnes seemed to believe your thyroid was fine even if you were 97.5 (36.3). So perhaps you have a full degree, more or less, to play around with and see where you feel best at.
