I grind my teeth when I sleep and am not sure what is causing this. Dentist has given me a mouthguard to wear to stop teeth damage but its made of plastic and I would rather solve the issue at the core. Anyone have any idea on protocols to stop this?

Quitting caffeine helps me every time. Masseter massages also seem to help.

I suffered from it for long. I managed my stress levels and digestive issues and fine now.

I would suggest trying mouth taping. I had issues with mouth breathing during night and mouth tape did wonders to me. Maybe could help you with your teeth grinding as well.

@PeatPioneer it may be histamine intolerance ….. I’ve found for myself that certain foods trigger a response in my upper jaw and I have a history of grinding.

+1 for mouth taping, and general sleep hygiene practices like nasal strips/dilators for better nasal breathing. Ideally you nasal breathe all night, and mouth is closed with tongue resting in upper palate (aka MEWing). Often grinding is the bodies quite ingenious solution to opening up the airway in the throat that is closed from bad tongue/jaw posture, aka your jaw dropping back and or tongue falling back and narrowing the airway. Grinding actives the throat structure and opens it back up. Mouth tape can be very effective at keeping the mouth shut and jaw forward and tongue up in the palate instead of falling back into the throat.

If that doesn't work you can try a dental appliance which locks the jaws forward and together when sleeping, as you can see here in Bryan Johnson's oral care video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxOtUJ5amaw

Of course he is very far from Peating/Bioenergetic but doesn't mean we can't pick and choose like from his oral care setup.

Bruxism and TMJ are very closely related. I had both. It is related to thiamine deficiency. I resolved mine with high dose thiamine hcl.
