It showed that taurine modulates oxidative stress, a key mechanism in NAFLD pathogenesis. These mechanisms include the reduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and the increase of antioxidants, such as reduced glutathione, in the liver. Taurine also affects lipid metabolism by stimulating mitochondrial β-oxidation and the expression and activity of 7α-hydroxylase, a crucial enzyme in bile acid synthesis, contributing to cholesterol reduction.

Similar changes were induced by a diet rich in PUFA in the following studies, and taurine was also shown to reduce oxidative stress and insulin resistance.

A high-fat diet, rich in PUFAs, can really mess you up.

I've just added some more taurine to my orange juice 🙂

@PUFADestroyerPPO id say able to go longer without being fatigued (endurance), and marginally better recovery. But definitely better endurance.

“ Taurine dosing appears to be effective at ~ 1–3 g/day acutely across a span of 6–15 days (1–3 h before an activity) which may improve aerobic performance (TTE), anaerobic performance (strength, power), recovery (DOMS), and a decrease in metabolic markers (creatine kinase, lactate, inorganic phosphate).”

@PUFADestroyerPPO taurine especially great for combat sports for the prehab / rehab effects on brain injuries.

Protective effects of taurine in traumatic brain injury via mitochondria and cerebral blood flow

Protective effects of taurine against inflammation, apoptosis, and oxidative stress in brain injury
