Magnesium Hydroxide Uses

I have a big bag of Mag Hydroxide laying around and have used it once or twice in the past. I am interested in using it for laxative purposes.
Additionally, due to it having ~41% magnesium by weight, I was wondering if I could use this as a steady source of magnesium to aid with higher doses of thiamine. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with using this supplement and other things I can mix it with to prevent the stomach acid alterations. I know that combining it with carbonated water converts into mag bicarb.

Magbicarb is good to supplement with especially if you're magnesium deficient and you want to build your magnesium stores and you want to take large amounts of magnesium for an extended time. Say for 6 months to year. Especially when you come from a low metabolic status where you are lacking in CO2 and have high lactic acid in your system.
At the start you can use large amounts at 800-1000 mg daily elemental magnesium intake. But since the amount of bicarbonate in it is much more than taking baking soda, it would at some point make your ECF very alkaline. At which time, if you want to continue the therapeutic magnesium intake levels, you can shift to taking a smaller amount of magnesium bicarbonate paired with a more acidic form of magnesium salt, such as magnesium chloride.
To find a good blend of the two magnesium salts, you just need to have on hand a urine and saliva pH strip. I use Hydrion with pH range 5.5 to 8, which can be bought from Amazon.
During the day, urine pH should be 6.4 to 6.6 while at around 2 pm. And saliva pH higher by 1 at 7.4 to 7.6
If urine pH is lower, you increase the magnesium bicarbonate and you decrease the magnesium chloride.
If urine pH is higher, you decrease the magnesium bicarbonate and you increase the magnesium chloride.
This is not just a one time test though. Doing it daily is better as you can quickly adjust your blend to accommodate to the change being brought about to your metabolism brought upon by having more CO2 as you improve your tissue oxygenation and gradually cause s shift towards more mitochondrial respiration and less glycolytic respiration.
After a year of this much magnesium therapeutic supplementation, or when the body tells you it has accumulated enough magnesium stores by loose bowel movement/diarrhea, you can lower your elemental magnesium intake to maintenance levels of 400mg daily elemental magnesium.
At this point, you will likely find yourself defecating with ease and not being dependent on taking so much soluble fiber to effect good bowel movement. which really is the wrong way to go about it as soluble fibers increase gut bacteria too much and increases endotoxin and serotonin levels.
What may keep your body from increasing your magnesium stores is an existing low metabolic condition that produces low ATP. Since magnesium binds to ATP in s magnesium ATP complex and with low ATP levels, magnesium stores will not build up as it has nothing to bind to.
But if you successfully built your magnesium stores and cause a shift to more oxidative mitochondrial production of energy, you will be operating on a higher level of energy, and you will need to adjust your intake of vitamin A and D and other inputs, or face depletion of nutrients that will set back your efforts to increase your metabolic level.

You can use other forms of magnesium when you're in maintenance mode. Neutral ones like mag oxide will do.
