      Avoid

You want it to dissolve quickly
Not sit in the stomach to “irritate”

Agreed, aspirin should dissolve and disperse quickly.

And if it's the Bayer Enteric aspirin you were considering then avoid due to the inactive ingredients, aka excipients. At least the US version anyway.

Look for constarch-only aspirin, the pills also split easily for divided doses.

Enteric coated aspirin (ECA) is a delayed release aspirin. The coating is designed not to dissolve in the presence of stomach acid.

The term “enteric” refers to the small intestine; enteric coatings resist breakdown of medication before it reaches the small intestine. So it does not irritate the stomach.

The problem of stomach irritation solved! New problem created?

Peat email exchange - I don't know anyone who has a stomach reaction when they dissolve the aspirin in hot water, and then take it with food. There are alternatives, such as magnesium salsalate or just plain salicylic acid (which should be used dissolved and with food). People using it with cancer usually take a daily total of 6 grams or more. Vitamin K protects against bleeding and other effects of prolonged aspirin use.

I dissolve my daily aspirin powder in my morning coffee. Powdered aspirin is the quickest release form.
