    Oregano oil is a powerful antimicrobial that can help reduce harmful bacteria in the gut, promoting a healthy balance of gut flora. Taking 1-2 drops of oregano oil diluted in water or a carrier oil daily can reduce gut infections and improve digestion. Studies show that oregano oil reduced symptoms of gut dysbiosis, such as bloating and gas, by 40% over a 6-week period.

      @Sugarnotsnow

      Very effective. Not only for the gut but systemically. I prefer to use it as a suppository as it bypaases the liver first pass.

        Oregano to help digestion?
        Some could misinterpret the situation and use oregano as a means to tolerate contraindicated foods, which are poorly metabolized and therefore force tolerance...
        Well, oregano is very effective and powerful to dampen bacterial overgrowth, like in dysbiosis.
        But if you take it to optimize digestion on a regular mode, in order to counteract side-effects of insufficient assimilation, you’ll get an unbalanced microbiota. Nature hates emptiness. Moreover not all phyla will be eradicated, even if oregano essential oil is very powerful as proofed in studies.
        I’ve personally used softgels of 3 kinds, among which oregano, mint, mountain savory and Ceylon cinnamon + fennel and ginger to deal with fermentation dysbiosis and a supposed SIBO/SIFO. Softgels should be enteric coated (or use a suppository prepared in pharmacy, 50 mg if dysbiosis). We want to avoid alteration and the aggressiveness of the stomach walls
        But whatever you make, some bacteria are able to hide down behind a film and a tiny amount will survive because of quorum sensing: targeted bacteria will transmit the information to other bacteria to make them genetically evolved and get the capacity to survive to a new environment.
        So, the tactic should be the next one:
        I prepare the ground and I reserve the use of essential oils for a crisis situation, not to accommodate and tolerate what alters the metabolism.
        I ration, I weaken then I bludgeon the intruders who do not live in symbiosis.
        It does happen in a cycle; it's temporary. And of course I then take the place with a course of probiotics. I'm not waiting for nature to take its course again because it will be a lottery if you try it with yogurt, kimchi, kefir or kombucha.

          @LucH how do you "ration,[and] weaken then bludgeon the intruders who do not live in symbiosis"? i just got some of the now foods enteric coated oregano oil softgels, not taken any yet, definitely want to avoid "targeted bacteria will transmit the information to other bacteria to make them genetically evolved and get the capacity to survive to a new environment".
