    Hello,

I’ve looked up the side effects for the 3, but wanted real user experience and advice on which one would be safest for UTI E.coli ESBL.

For reference, before culture results arrived - 5 day course of doxycycline was given. (D-mannose, cranberry, oregano oil and garlic taken alongside it…. also introduced manuka 24+ since past 2 days) after 5 days of doxycycline, UA leukocytes 1+ and UA WBC 20-40.

    Allergic to penicillin and macrobid.

Now have to visit infectious disease specialist.

      Stay away from ciprofloxin.
      Can’t stress this enough.

The further society drifts from the truth the more it will hate those who speak it.

Thank you @Peatful … I have heard the horror stories and so my file says I’m ‘allergic’…. Which is why I wasn’t offered it yet, but now that I may have to take IV carbapenem or gentamicin , I was wondering if those may be worse and if I should try the cipro.
I had IV penecilin and fainted immediately and hospitalized many years ago. And macrobid I took th full course and got severe hives on the last day and fainted and hospitalized for 2 days (dexamethasone).

Now I’m thinking of washing with manuka honey mixed with water after restroom use. Don’t know what other supplements I should try - boil cloves? L-arginine?

Have appointment with infectious disease doctor in 4 days and I’m trying to get better before then. Just for more reference, I’m 60F, initially I was traveling and had fever, severe pain and chills but couldn’t see a doctor til I got back home so I was on pain meds (arzo+ aleve)and cranberry + d-mannose then oregano oil when I found it. That’s all I could find at the time until I came home and got prescribed the doxycycline. I don’t have fever now, and the pain has decreased since taking the antibiotics, but I still don’t feel better or normal. The doxycycline or the e.coli made me very fatigued. I want to be vigilant and not have this become worse since E. Coli ESBL is, I’m told, resistant to a lot of antibiotics.

Any other suggestions appreciated. If cipro is the best option of the 3 , or if I have to take the other meds, what could I take alongside it to minimize risks of side effects.

you could try methylene blue and cyproheptadine. that stack is pretty safe unless you have the g6pd issue or are on SSRI’s, idk exactly what max dose of MB is safe for that condition.

side effect prevention of ciprofloxacin would be antioxidants, i guess . the recovery protocol (small amounts of magnesium doses around the clock)would interfere with the drug absorption while you are taking it. some people are fine on floroquinolones and some get absolutely wrecked. i think it probably has to do with your mineral and energy status beforehand.

if your doctor isnt an arse-pirate, maybe ask them to test you for the g6pd thing and then take high doses of MB maybe. or dont, it might offend them. idk. i really dont know what doctors are like anymore but i assume theyre mostly all dickheads still.

Thank you everyone for your help.

They did a urinalysis—thankfully, no bacteria showed this time so I won’t need any more antibiotics

This is what I added since last time until my appointment:
Finished doxycycline 1 pill 2x daily.
            Continued cranberry+D-mannose pills 2 pills (2-3x daily)
1 fresh minced garlic clove 1x daily
            Manuka 24+ 1 teaspoon 2x daily
Oregano oil 1 pill 2x daily
Black seed oil 1 teaspoon 2x daily

Wash with manuka honey diluted with water after restroom

            Vitamin k2 and b-complex intermittently

I think I will continue the cranberry’s-mannose pills 1 pill a day until I run out and continue black seed oil and honey as a preventive measure …. Although I’m thinking to eventually switch over to a different honey because in the course of this illness I read some information about methylglyoxal - the antibiotic component of manuka honey- being bad for your brain…? Need to research more….

On a good note - the doctor said I can see an allergist who will test my allergies to different antibiotics

Now 1 thing to note : my UA Hyaline Cast came abnormal (0-5 /LPF)

Any ideas on what I can do here? I have a follow up in a few weeks. And an ultrasound to check bladder since I have leakage/ incontinence issues and I’ve been getting uti about 1x a year.. I think I generally have a weak pelvic floor

Also, I think I will make a separate post — there is still a lot of discomfort during restroom use - they prescribed topical Premarin /estrogen cream and I have not used it yet for vaginal atrophy/dryness/discomfort

I’ve been searching through the RPF/low toxin forum, with mixed opinions….. I think I will try 0.5% DHEA cream to start

I’m trying to get blood work done to determine what kind of hormone therapy I should start…or if I should start on thyroid meds, but maybe I should make a separate post about that

            Symptoms:

            Insomnia
            Fatigue
            Body aches
            Weight gain
            Low energy
            Sluggish

More but these are the main ones

              @northeastar7

I know of tons of people who got pelvic floor issues after covid

this is like my fourth or fifth time on this forum saying something is caused by covid and I think people might think im obsessed but im really not. but it's noteworthy to see all these similar issues start for many people around the same time.

              anyways.

I would recommend figuring out if you can safely take methylene blue in decent doses. you say you get a UTI every year, MB is good for that and maybe will help

you probably can do exercises too for your pelvic floor issues
