Ultrasound of Thyroid Gland
-
Ray Peat has talked about ultrasounds being beneficial for bone growth and tissue repair, but would ultrasound exposure directly to the thyroid be safe? My doc ordered an ultrasound of my thyroid since I tanked my TSH to basically zero and got my T3 3x over the reference range and theyre concerned (i just overdosed cynomel lol) However I think a shrunken thyroid is desirable from a peat perspective so anything that could promote tissue growth ie. ultrasounds may be risky??

I think that any risk is quite low compared to other tools such as x-rays or CT scans. I remember seeing a study correlating an increase in thyroid cancer with an increase in ultrasound of thyroid, but I couldn't tell if it was a consequence of more people being diagnosed or if it was the very cause of the cancer increase.
Why don't you try going without supplements for a month and redoing the tests? The honey diet you're on, sunbathing, etc. should help restore levels quickly.

@serotoninskeptic Your posting style shows that you know your “issue” is benign, caused by your use of exogenous thyroid hormone, and will likely self-correct. So it is a little bewildering why you are also posting like you’re considering this procedure. Are you from a weird authoritarian Islamic country like the guy from Kuwait on rpf who got ordered to get xrays every time he applied for a job?

@sushi_is_cringe I just want to get bloodwork again soon but they wont put the script in for me unless I do this first. Could go to a third party lab myself but then gotta pay out of pocket.
